I noticed these tags were a bit of a mess
So I wrote up a BUR to reduce tagging stress
The characters lead to the books that they're from
And the books they all go to the man who wrote them
I don't think we need tags for each film and each show
So I'm merging them to just what you need to know!

So, this implication was set up for some reason. Would the film be considered distinct enough to warrant keeping this? Should people tag blue_sky_studios manually whenever uploading something specifically referencing the film?

Reason: The next step of what was suggested above.

I did follow up on the concern, but the original implication to blue sky studios was just a bulk BUR https://e621.net/forum_topics/29532 including other properties that blue sky studios had made. It was not about whether or not that version of 'horton hears a who' was worth having as a tag separate from the book or other versions. So I don't think it had a reason beyond "as long as the tag for that specific film already exists, it should implicate the studio who made that film version" which is fine. But I think condensing all of the versions to just one tag is also fine. And then manually tagging blue sky studios when needed for their version specifically.

Reason: Turns out this one is not actually by Dr. Seuss, although it is frequently confused for one of his because of a similar style, and both being published around the same time by the same publisher. According to here
