Topic: When you are both Artist and poster

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

Hello there!

This is my first time here in the forums and I have a small inquiry.

I have been posting my artwork here, and have gotten an Artist Wiki, but do not understand how my account is still labeled as Member.

What manner of lewd act must I perform to have actual artist status?
Or is this some form of error?

Alternately, you can Dmail one of us on staff (such as myself) with a link to a WiP of your art or something similar (to ensure that you're who you say you are; we don't want you to be screwed over, after all) along with mentioning what artist tag you want your account linked to, and we can slap that checkmark on your self-uploads no problem.

Also, on some Boorus, you're supposed to use the self upload tag, but here it's automatic once verified.

Yeah, the Dragonfruit accounts on same site as you normally post are the best way.

If possible I’d dm one of my wip files. But as mentioned, this is the only place I post my more naughty stuff. I’m aware of reposters…and have seen people doing so on R34, which isn’t surprising.

Edit: I am going to be publishing a book of my work at some point…so it would be nice to be verified to avoid plagiarism.

This may not work as I am only posting my original work here on e6, the Lewd stuff anyway.

That won't be a problem; there's pretty great tools to help figure out where an image was first posted, & it's even easier to check that there aren't publicly available versions of 1 or more unpublished WIPs. Any one of us staff should be able to help you out (although I'd recommend a janitor like Clawstripe, as they're usually more experienced with this process).

Thank you so much! This is good info to know.

A funny thought would be to have some number that gets hidden in the metadata of the next submission, and is easily checkable in Irfanview with "I" key, or other metadata extractor.

A number, hm…
I’ve never altered metadata before, I use procreate and upload right from my saves.
Is there some kind of tutorial for this?
I’m not as tech smart as as I was 2 decades ago.

Then again if I turn on location data on my iPad, my uploads will have my IP tagged in the metadata right?

I’d be doxxed by anyone who knows how, but it’d also be like…legitimate copyright.

A little sketchy…but it’d have to do.

Your ip address will never be leaked in an upload, the image is uploaded and saved as is with nothing added to it
Photos are what could theoretically leak a general location, device, etc but we're in no way a photo gallery so that isn't an issue

I'm also not sure what you mean by that being a "legitimate copyright", the image existing in the first place is copyrighted, nothing extra needed

Also, please don't start editing metadata, that can cause all kinds of weird shenanigans that are nearly impossible to diagnose

Actually, a lot of people use tools that wipe it all (EXIF/comments/everything), because of said doxxing reasons. Pixiv started doing this several years ago, retroactively. It screwed up all the hashes. :(

Kinda late, provided most (if not all, at least on Android) tools used for upload started to do that for much longer, heh. EXIF aren't providing authentity aither, they are just open text in data headers and can be easily added\changed. There are ways to introduce digital marks into image, but these would destroyed by changing encoding method\color space.

I'm pretty sure alphamule meant that more as a thought experiment than a serious notion. There's really no need to get all fancy. You can just open a picture you've already got in your graphics program of choice, maybe turn off a layer or two to make it obvious that's the original workfile you've got, screenshot it, obscure anything you don't want someone like me to see, and then post the screenshot to an image file sharing site so it can be linked in a Dmail. Once someone on staff has seen it and linked your account, you can then delete it if you'd like. I make it sound more complicated than it really would be.

Certainly less complicated than alphamule and swiftkill did. Goodness…
Now I just need to find a proper file sharing site…

Well, said imagined scenario assumed the document had never been published before. Yeah, it's kind of obvious when someone's been posting for 12 years on FA or IB, that they're legit.

As a preteen I’d post stuff on myotaku, it’s been over 3 decades since and my quality is so much better now. Pretty sure no one wants that stuff for confirmation.

Does myotaku even still exist?!

IP tagged in the metadata

No, and IP isn't linked to physical location, it might be in the general area (due to the way they are assigned) or might not.

Pictures on the other hand can contain location information (latitude, longitude, altitude, time) embedded as metadata.
