Topic: Wondering how to meet/make furry friends?

Posted under Off Topic

I’ve considered myself a furry for a while but never really interacted with the community or anything. I’m just wondering what the best way to meet and talk to other furries is if anyone has experience with that lol. (Preferrably online methods) :3

Being an artist is a fast track!
◠‿◠) Haha~★

But seriously, if you want to experience the community, just engage where you can,
like here! No real special trick to finding the hang-out, You're already in it, Just
pick a topic and talk. There's also the e6 discord if you wanna tackle something
real time, Dood.

As for the making friends part, There's no easy answer. Friendships
take time to build and start randomly with peeps you meet or meet you.

Sometimes you meesh. ╹‿╹)

Sometimes you don't. -‿-)

and sometimes it's a colorful rainbow between the two. T‿T)~★

But the thing to go into the forums or discord with is no expectations to make friends!
I know it sounds harsh but trust me, the pressure of making a friendship can be really
off-putting to peeps. Just be nice, respectful and have a nice time talking, Dood!

Welcome, Dood!

It's really just about putting yourself out there and interacting with people a bunch! Though for the "best way", I guess just joining an active discord server or two for topics you like and going from there. For me anyways, I'm mostly only active in kinky NSFW and Roleplay circles, and having the same kinks and liking to roleplay similar ideas is a really easy icebreaker xD

Heck, I met my ex through a Furry Gooner discord years ago... Stuff really can happen if you put yourself out there <3

Well in a way, you are doing it, right now.

But yeah like some said here, there's e621 discord, people in Blips can be very welcoming to newbies and some rare fun threads you can meet furries here too.

I just saw the responses and wanted to say thank you to everyone who helped :3 i really appreciate it all! ! <3

Considering you're asking this on e6 and I met all of my furry friends on here(yeah, that's kinda of embarrassing lol), I'll give some stuff that I've used to meet people specifically on e6.

So one thing that I think you should do is write some intersting bio(you can check out mine, with the Old Bio heading, people texted me often from it) and if you want people to more easily find you in the search use words like dm, text me, etc. so people can find you quicker and so other people know that you wanna chat.
Another thing that helps is putting some popular messengers in your bio, because people usually don't text you in e6 dms and prefer to use some messenger. I recomend using/putting(in your bio) messengers like telegram, discord, session and so on, but the 3 that i just mentioned are the most common ones and will probably cover most of the people that will ever text you.
And the most important part is to not be afraid and engage, it's really hard to start talking to strangers but you overcome this fear with time. For example you can text other people that make it clear that they wanna chat in their bio, if you're afraid to send them a message on some platform directly try and send the a message on e6 for me it was less scary that way. And if you're scared to text people yourself, then you can just try to be funny in the comments or just write comments in general(just not creepy ones lol) because someone will eventually go in your profile and see that they can text you and will text you.
Oh and never forger basic rules of conversations and always try to be friendly and engage in the conversations. These are the things that personally helped me make some furry friends and some of those friends are amazing people.

Hope that helped in any way!

In my experiences meeting fellow furries was the best over MMOs! Preferably ones with an animal race (Elder Scrolls Online, World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy XIV, etc...) or ones with a character creator that allows you to make furry characters, which I can't think of any at the moment but the one that got me started was City of Heroes, now called City of Heroes: Homecoming. That's where I made majority furry friends!

A small word of advice. Do not put overly personal contact information right there on your e621 profile. If you want to meet other furries, talk on discord and feel someone out first. Not your phone number.

To build upon what Rainbow Dash said, I highly recommend that you do not put a Session ID or similar personal contact information in your User bio. A Telegram or a Discord should be fine (but please still exercise caution with people you don't know) as artists frequently do so to encourage potential clients.

Yeah nothing good can come from putting all of your personal information out there. I only reveal very limited contact info in the very beginning

I'd say just go to an open Discord community centered around something you like in the furry space. I found my initial furry friend circle on the Angels with Scaly Wings discord before following someone I knew to a nicher roleplay server. You could consider RP servers, artists' severs, or curated art spaces for things you like. After settling into a community and sharing activities with some of the people there, you can often cross-pollinate with those people's friends. A lot of my friends weren't part of that initial AWSW server or the RP offshoot but were introduced later from people I did meet there.

E621 gooner based friendships seem tenuous tbh. Just use your sona as an avi on a Discord server for your university, specific interest, hobby, etc and some other furry will bring it up. You could join SFW furry groups too, but I don't think specifically looking for friends on porn platforms is that wise.

It doesn't seem there was a reason given on their profile
