Topic: Original Version of a Post Deleted for Being a "Duplicate" of an Alternate Version

Posted under Site Bug Reports & Feature Requests

A few days ago, I uploaded a different version of a post that was previously uploaded to e621, that being the Natural Habitat Shorts episode Fired Up. The initial upload features the song Forever by TINAMINA, while my upload featured the song Soda Pop from KPop Demon Hunters. My post was quickly deleted on the grounds it was an "Inferior version/duplicate", but I feel that doesn't make sense for one simple reason. That reason being, the Soda Pop version of the short is actually the original version. It was uploaded to TikTok, Twitter/X, and the Natural Habitat Shorts website, but when it came time to upload the short to YouTube, the song was replaced with Forever, likely to bypass YouTube's draconian copyright policies. The Soda Pop version being the original is further proven by the dance Jason does in the short being the exact same dance the Saja Boys do when singing the song in KPop Demon Hunters. I don't know if there's a way to get my post un-deleted, but I just wanted to inform the staff it wasn't merely an "inferior version/duplicate" of the initial post.

Audio is generally irrelevant to post approval (it's only relevant when comparing no sound vs sound), so whichever got here first is what's staying here, it doesn't really matter what the "original" is

The only time I've seen one audio edit be deleted over another was due to the existing version on the site being significantly lower quality and effort

It wouldn't really be an edit in this case. Both versions are from the creator, with the original original being the one the OP uploaded with the kpop song, as found on the creator's tiktok, twitter, and website, while the other that's still here is an alternate version with a different song that the creator uploaded to their youtube.

I never said it applied strictly to edits, I specifically said "Audio is generally irrelevant to post approval, so whichever got here first is what's staying here"
I used an edit as an example, but regardless of who made it we don't keep multiple audio versions of one post

this happened to me as well; although under slightly different circumstances: i edited a video (https://e621.net/posts/4579652) and i changed a bit of the sound, but that shouldn't apply here because i also edited the end of the video to make it loop. the video may have been lower quality (i unfortunately cannot avoid that for the time being), but i clearly stated everything in the post description and it was still deleted. do i have to completely reorganize a video to save it from deletion?

the video may have been lower quality

Uploading Guidelines:
Edits (...) need to be at least on the same level of quality as the original.

It doesn't matter what the reason is, if an edit is lower quality than the original it will be rejected
