Topic: Tagging Help - characters with multiple names/identities

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

I'm trying to upload art of a character from a video game, and I'm having a wicked time working out which identity to tag it as. At the point in time the image is from, the character is going by "the Chiropterous Hoarder", but the character is better known as "Mr Apples" and I'm not sure if it's better to tag its specific current identity (and risk it being missed by people looking for the main identity), its general identity (which it isn't currently acting as), or both (and imply there's two people in a solo image).

To make it more confusing, in the "main" timeline the character also maintains two identities, with the only visible difference being how it dresses... causing obvious tagging problems when it strips.

I'm going to assume you mean this character:
https://thefifthcity.wiki/wiki/Mr_Apples
https://thefifthcity.fandom.com/wiki/Mr_Apples
https://sunlessskies.fandom.com/wiki/Chiropterous_Hoarder

You tag the most commonly associated name they are referred to as, i.e., "Mr Apples".
You don't need to maintain separate character tags for every name they go under, though you can mention this info in the character tag wiki.

If you feel a different name is going to be equally as popular as "Mr Apples" (e.g., "The Chiropterous Hoarder"), then you may also suggest for a tag alias for the two names to be merged.

Exactly the one, correct.
Thank you, I'll run with that.

Apples is by far its most common name. With regards to the Masters, that's probably the best default you can hope for, unless there's a substantial difference (The Vake is the same "entity" as Veils, but in form and appearance measurably difference, Candles became Eaten but there's a clear difference between pre-and-post betrayal forms, how far along does the PC need to be to be tagged as Cards, so on, so on).

Good luck with the tagging, not sure how to handle species when they are almost always entirely hidden by robes. If there is already a Curator species tag, if it implies bat it might lead to some twys/twyk confusion.

You are allowed to deviate a little from TWYS when it comes to the species tag, though everything still needs to be within reason (i.e., you cannot tag bat when nothing bat-like is visible).

That would also bring into issue of completely-robed characters being potentially irrelevant to the site since we cannot see any furry features on them.
