Topic: Hot take: I think a LOT of Zootopia fans are a little too sympathetic for Pawbert, and I find their constant infatuation of him a little concerning.

I mean, sure, he was likely abused by his father throughout his whole life, but we should also remember that he’s a psychopath who almost killed 4 people and only “helped” Gary in order to get his dad’s approval for once in his life. Within the third act, he proved to be nothing but a groveling, traitorous bootlicker, although I could see him trying to redeem himself later down the line, but I highly doubt that the people he nearly murdered would forgive him so easily, especially Gary. I’m sorry, but I don’t even think that adorable pit viper would instantly forgive Pawbert, the young man who poisoned Judy in front of his own eyes, almost instantaneously.

I’ve also seen fans of his say that the writers were too harsh on him, which is kinda BS imo. I mean, he’s a villain, right? Because of course he’s gonna have the shit kicked out of him, especially by the people he betrayed. It would be like saying Mace Windu was too harsh on Palpatine for reflecting his own force lightning back into his face with his lightsaber and frying it like bacon on a skillet.

Nice of you having concerns...it won't happen much lol, if a character looks cool and/or a woobie people wil forgive it very easily if they have a nice design, see Vegeta from DBZ, memetic father today but killed countless people before setting his feet on earth welp, so things are like that since uh...1988 in Japan? Probably there's other older example but that's business as usual for fictional characters...

Also it probably helps there must be heaps of furry fans that have daddy issues so...

I see you have multiple instances of Loona Hellaboss in your favorites; I'm afraid I must insist you remove them immediately, as she is an accomplice and perpetrator to numerous murders and this directly reflects morally upon people who thinks she's hot

Pretty much my view on the matter, Dood!

(Zootopia 2 Spoiler's Ahead) We gotta talk about Pawbert, Dood!

Recently watch Zootopia 2 and man I feel bad for this guy!
From beginning to end, he was an amazing character with so
much depth! Staying consistent through out in a story like
this, Wanting to make his family proud and finally earn that
Unconditional love every family should have! Going through
greater and greater lengths to prove he is Milton Lynxley
son, Dood!

Man, I felt bad for this guy. Not excusing the things he's
done and tried to do, Not at all. Just that I can clearly
see the trail of thought that led him to that conclusion.

"If only if I could prove myself, Maybe then, he'll love me."

and that shows even when he's in jail, He still wants a family.
Man, Pawbert's ark hurts in a compelling way, Dood!
╹‿╹)

Summed up, Not defending the guy, Just saying DEAR HECK was he a compelling villain!
Love that the topic of sympathy is even being talked about! That is the
MARK of a well-written character, Dood!

they're not saying you can't not like them, just that thematically its weird how easily people forgave them. theres a difference in liking a character and condoning their actions

Forgiving someone doesn't mean condoning their actions. It just means they're excused given the circumstances, not that what they did is good or acceptable.

there are little to no ethics in the art of goon. if the character looks good enough then nobody will give a shit about what theyve done.

I was more referring to the person I was replying to but you are correct

I just find him boring and unattractive v:

But I know he's a lot more relatable for people from certain cultures, like the Philippines.
