Greetings, and welcome to the fourth annual 2026 Staff Drive!

Last year, we invited anyone interested in helping run e621's day-to-day operations to apply for a staff position. Now, we are looking for fresh janitors and moderators once again.

If you are interested in joining the staff team, please read this post in its entirety, and then fill out the short application below. If you applied last time, feel free to submit another application.

🡲 🡲 🡲 [ Application Form ] 🡰 🡰 🡰

The form will be open for around two weeks and accept submissions until the 16th of March.

Expectations

We are looking for dependable people who can regularly spare about an hour a day to chip away at the site's post and ticket queue to help ensure everything runs smoothly.
We don't have any strict requirements except that you need to be friendly, helpful, and can keep a cool head when users are upset with you.
However, you need to have some level of activity on your account so we can properly assess you. Blank accounts will not be considered.
The reference code is 'Purpl'. Remember this for when you are filling out your application.

Your history on the site will be reviewed if you apply for a staff position. Don't worry if you had a record or two from years ago, though. We believe that people can change and grow over time, and some hiccups in the past are not going to ruin your chances here.

Positions

These are volunteer positions, so your real life should take priority over e621.
The time requirements are not set in stone, and you will not be forced to handle anything outside of your comfort zone.
That said, we do expect a minimum level of contribution from all staff members.

Janitors and Moderators are equal to each other in rank. Feel free to select both in the application, but members will only occupy one position at a time.
In case you are not familiar with what the different positions do, here are the official job descriptions.

Janitor

Janitors are responsible for the approval queue.
They perform the following tasks:

  • Approve submissions that follow the Uploading Guidelines and delete the ones that do not.
  • Review and handle post flags.
  • Review and handle post replacements.
Moderator

Moderators are responsible for the ticket queue.
They perform the following tasks:

  • Review and handle support tickets related to comments, forum posts, and blips.
  • Hand out records and bans to users who break the site rules.
New this year!

I'm excited to announce three new positions this year! We've grown so much, and are ever growing still.

Developer

Developers are the lifeblood of our site. They write code to secure and stabilize the site, and create new features and quality of life improvements.
They perform the following tasks:

  • Contribute pull requests to the e6ng github for review and integration.
  • Create bots and utilities both for the site and independently running applications.
Blade Runner

Blade Runners are specialized curators that primarily deal with investigating AI claims on our site, as these are frequent and time consuming.
They perform the following tasks:

  • Investigate artwork that is flagged for AI by the community, and documents the process.
  • Work directly with the user in a private ticket appeal, evaluating submitted evidence.
Discord Constable

Discord Constables are our moderators for Discord. We have many channels and users, so it can be a lot to cover all on its own.
They perform the following tasks:

  • Frequent their normal channels and wait for the constable role to be pinged for a disturbance, and discuss amongst the group.
  • Apply appropriate disciplinary actions or warnings to people in chat as needed.

Last year we received 324 applications. Due to the volume of interest, we will not be able to respond to everyone individually. We do go through each application by hand however, so you can expect this process to take several weeks. If you have not heard from us by the end of April, then your application likely wasn't selected. If you'd like to inquire about it, feel free to send me a Dmail and I'll tell you.

Thank you for your interest, and may the odds be ever in your favor~.

Updated

Good luck to all applicants!

EDIT::
If you are applying for dev, it would be helpful if you link your github or similar. Even if you aren't on staff, feel free to chip away at things on our public todo list

I had a rough year last year leading to several warnings and a ban.

If it's any consolation, my sole notable contribution to the site before I became involved in the community & development was... we'll say less than becoming of a staff member. Give it some time & prove that you've grown, & we're very capable of looking past it.

We do require some degree of on-site activity for our staff members; it's an invaluable way to build expectations for how they would behave if given a place on staff. For a short list, it helps us see:

  • How they interact with other users
  • How good a grasp they get of our rules on conduct, tagging, etc.
  • If they've handled receiving feedback - from staff & other users alike - well, & could be expected to handle user scrutiny calmly & productively
  • If they're likely to stick around once the novelty wears off

Even for users who've made significant positive contributions in an area like software development (where you don't really need to talk to users to make an impact), we still like to see you interacting with users. With your current level of site history, I'd advise against having high expectations. That said, it's never to late to start; I had basically zero site activity outside of tag changes before the end of March 2025, & I was officially made staff (albeit as a special exception) at the end of July of the same year after after consistent engagement on the forums & Discord. If you're very interested, you can start engaging with the site a bit more, & you'll be a far stronger contender come next staff drive; if your engagements are mainly with flagging & uploading, it'll also teach you a lot about what our janitors do, so you'll be far better equipped to prove your mettle.

To anyone interested in applying to be a developer

Thanks for your interest! Personally speaking, it's been a very positive experience for me, both as a developer and a person. Feel free to shoot me a DM if you have any questions you don't want to ask in public, either on-site or on Discord (you can find me from our Discord server); I'll also try to check in & answer any questions I find in this thread.

I'll give some advice if you plan on working on any e6 software stuff (as part of the team or a community contributor; we are FOSS after all, and the GitHub is linked in the version number at the bottom of the page), especially if you have any interest in professional software development; make a fresh GitHub account for it that's untethered from all your other stuff. It's better to be safe than sorry.

Kinda what I was thinking. These records are too fresh

Best wishes to those who do apply! I know for a fact that I can't because of my current time management. Otherwise, I'd happily be a janitor but seeing how sporadic my studying is and balancing it with work practices in said area I'm studying at...

Having a staff category literally named BLADE RUNNER is badass beyond belief. And it comes with an avid hate of AI! Win-win!

I'm sure Donovan DMC would jump at that

"Blade Runner" is a badass title but I don't trust myself with power here, and I have records plus I'm banned from the Discord. Props to whoever gets the proper Slop Slayer title, it's a badge of honor.

I am interested, but I don't think I'd be able to keep up with everything currently going on in life @w@

I'll see in a year or more if that changes and another opportunity is offered.

No, I was just making a reference to the new Blade Runner position.

(Though I also had not been offered any positions for which I could have rejected.)

Pray the the E621 GODS that I get in😭

This seems interesting, but I don't really consider myself active enough to be worth my while. Good luck to the others though!

Did it on old Harpy ai version when the site existed before with Cyoo and Seong Woo under Meak Doctor, but taking 4 hours per day for free just to maintain the site away from troll with retool was a pain to deal with... never again, good luck to the ones who will partake in this, and remember, you are not forced to get your free job done everyday for your own mental health.

Honestly, I often find myself with nothing to do after work, just doom-viewing videos online. At least this way I can potentially help facilitate the flow of furry smut.

If I wasn't too busy all the time with my 9-5 grind, I'd probably rock at being a blade runner; Which might I say is a rather badass title.

Honestly I wouldn't mind trying cause I have both the time and some site experience, but I'm not sure If I'm the right man for a job like that.

Submitted one for moderating comments on-site and moderating on the Discord. I don't expect to be accepted since most applicants don't make the cut, it's always good to give it a shot.

Is there a way to check if the form was submitted? I clearly remember filling it out, but I’m not sure if I actually clicked submit ><

You did, you're good.

Janitor is something I think I'd be good at, and certainly have the free time for it, but interacting with the community is something I've not done much of at this point... Speaking up is something I struggle with both in real life and online. Working on it 🤷

Did.. Did the reference code change?
I submitted my application a few weeks back and just came back to check if the apps were closed and to find if there was any information on where the successful applicants will be posted, If I'd be contacted, etc, and, I seriously remember the reference code being something else??
Am I going crazy? lmao.
