This, along with sound_warning are in the Artist category so it appears near the top of the tag list, so people can see the warning quickly when viewing a post. In the Meta or General category would move it farther down, where people are less likely to notice it before it's too late.

Ah, that makes sense
I'll go ahead and reject this

Would it be worth creating a "warning" category that is designed to be displayed at the top of pages? Making them artist tags just seems like such an awkward workaround.

It has been suggested before but it is not viable, see topic #56708 & topic #57975.

I love the idea of this. But as I understand it there are actual technical hurdles that make it hard to add that, so it is unlikely to happen any time soon. Maybe someday though.

If it's ever going to happen it needs to be done as soon as possible, the longer time goes on the more difficult it gets to add tag categories
Every new millions of posts adds hours worth of server churn required to do the migration

Would another route be that e6 requires a sound warning in the intro of videos with loud sounds for them to be accepted?
Kind of in the same vein as requiring extreme kinks to be tagged on upload + quality standards mashed together; A video without the warning could be rejected for not meeting quality standards.

This would reject like 90%+ of videos with sound uploaded to the site, we can't force artists to include warnings and we don't want to encourage third party edits shoving warnings on just to try to get approved
