A previous alias request on this same topic.

Encountered one issue in making this due to the afformentioned previous alias.

alias ancient_rome -> roman
alias roman_empire -> roman
# has blocking transitive relationships, cannot be applied through BUR

Shouldn't these imply ancient_rome instead of rome?

I'd even say rome by itself sounds rather ambiguous since it could mean the city, the culture or even a character

Yes, I do agree.
I was unsure of how to deal with it at the time, but now I will change make a new BUR to alias rome to be rome_(disambiguation) and change roman to ancient rome.

And also, to answer Clawstripe's (clearly sarcastic) question
The western one still held Rome and so we can still consider it Rome. The Eastern one we today refer to as Byzantium. The (not) Holy (not) Roman (not technically an) Empire is commonly referred to jokingly as the precursor to Germany.
The Roman Empire people think about is the one at the height of it's power where the whole map makes it seem like Rome controlled the entire Mediterranean. Before the East nor the West could be considered.
