Topic: Favorite """element"""

Posted under Off Topic

Im not talking about the communist propaganda that scientist call the periodic table (hydrogen, cobalt, uranium, etc). I'm talking about the REAL elementals like fire, water, air, earth, plants, ice, etc.

I'm obviously joking, but seriously, what are your favorite "elements"/ what kind of elemental power do you want? You can even get fancy by saying something like "time" or "death".

I actually have a somewhat similar magic system for a few of my OCs. It's composed of five sets of two opposing attributes - Fire/Water, Earth/Air, Life/Death, Light/Shadow and Space/Time. You can only have one of the two opposing attributes. Once you use an attribute, you're attuned to it, and if you try to use the opposite, your magic circuits will explode and probably kill you. The exception being if you have the extremely rare Omnic Magic Circuits, which are capable of handling opposing attributes.

There's more to each attribute than meets the eye - for instance, one OC has trace demonic ancestry which gives her innate, world-class ability in the Shadow attribute. This lets her create anti-magic, which she uses as part of her work hunting down powerful mages. In her other attributes (Water/Air/Life/Time), she's mediocre at best. In addition, she's also capable of melding with shadows and fusing with demons for greater, albeit borrowed, power.

If I were to personally pick which abilities I'd want, I'd probably go Water/Earth/Life/Shadow/Space. The concept is heavily inspired by the Nasuverse and The Death Mage Who Doesn't Want a Fourth Time. I've written little related to it because I'm very lazy.

The first time I saw "psychic" type pokemon, I was like ÔoÔ. Media featuring the concept of "psychic power" as its own distinct thing and as a narrative focus is pretty rare everywhere, but outside of Japan (Mob 100, Saiki Kusuo) it's almost inexistent.

I just love the idea of thinking really hard to levitate and bend a spoon and cause testicular torsion in my enemies

Water.
And because of Vaporeon, Rivulet,Swordfish_(fishtrout) and Seawings
Aquatic designs are cool

I'm going to cheat and say magic because magic can do anything.

Except in crap magic systems where it's just boring energy blasts and shields, like DBZ Ki or Gwen's Pink Lantern shit from Ben 10 before the authors of UAF got around to watching the original series and learned she had magic once.

Nature is an underrated element too. You get plants and animals under your command including anything you can make up. Like living magic plants that bite or spit fire.
