Reason:

FLCL is a poor translation of the title, Furikuri, which would properly translate to Fooly Cooly. FLCL is also a very unintuitive copyright, and I wouldn't have known that was anything other than a garbage tag if I hadn't googled it.

I think the translation team stuck with FLCL only because it's the "initials" of the four letters that went into the Japanese name when English-ified (Fu Li Cu Li).

Can confirm. Also, weird show. Even after watching it I still have no idea what it was even about.

Hmm. I'll have to add that to my list of shows to watch that I'll never actually watch, alongside some of those other zany sounding animes.
