Okay I removed them and added 2 new ones at the end of the first BUR.

Monotone_* is just -multicolored_*, making it redundant. It's better to tag when something is multicolored than the fact that something is the same color

I don't think we should keep it. Though I'm not sure if clothing is an appropriate alias target. It would include things like anklets and ankleband/ankle_bands, which are more jewelry and adornments than clothing.

My assumption was that *wear tags were always clothing (see headgear and headwear), though I can see that people applying it are probably not aware of the convention. The second reason was anklewear -clothing has 0 posts, so it's an easy way to eliminate both tags, without aliasing to invalid_tag or changing its category to invalid

This is just a typo, so it should be aliased to the intended tag, monotone_fur.
Otherwise, these seem fine. My personal take on monotone_* tags is that they should generally only exist for things that are not monotone by default. So, monotone_body and its implicators, maybe monotone_clothing and major clothing articles like pants and shirts, but nothing too specific. Most of these have no reason to exist. The fact that monotone_lacrimal_caruncle exists is baffling.

FYI, you don't have to reject and remake BURs if it has a typo in it.
You can simply edit the BUR by clicking on the request number and choosing the "Edit" command.
I don't know how you would have missed that since it is right next to the "Reject" command.

This is not a new argument, see topic #38282 & topic #26928.
I have been quite a vocal supporter for monotone_<body_part> tags for some time now, but I can see that I'm in the minority here so I didn't want to bother bringing up old arguments.

My official stance is that I'm for keeping monotone_<body_part> as it proves searchability, especially useful for cropped artwork.
I'm okay with discontinuing certain monotone_<body_part> tags if their base tag is not that well-tagged to begin with and I've no strong opinion on discontinuing monotone_<clothing/accessories> altogether.

What I'm not okay with is the wholesale invalidation of monotone_<body_part>.
IMO, it sets a bad precedent for the validity of the remaining monotone_* tags, or even worse, any remaining <color>_<body_part> tags.
The argument that you could simply use the default <body_part> tag falls flat when you consider some of these tags are getting sent straight to invalid_tag.
Moreover, complete invalidation would mean that whenever I want to search for monotone parts, I would have to include <body_part> -multicolored_<body_part> for each & every single body part I want to add into my search.

At least for body parts where the vast vast majority are monotone, it doesn't improve searchability. And if the body part itself is so common to see that we don't think a tag is necessary for it, and the state of the body part is to be monotone colored a significant majority of the time, there's no much to gain from simply doing -multicolored_<body_part> colored. And for body parts do have tags, if searching for the body part alone nets 90+% identical results as monotone_<body_part> (or would if it was widely tagged), that doesn't really improve searches by a significant margin, especially for the upkeep required.

This is particularly an issue when you start getting disagreements on what's considered a monotone_<body_part>, which is surprisingly not so universal. The number of times I've seen multicolored ears tagged monotone_ears was incredible, for example, which was done on the assumption that it only counts the outer ear and ignores the inner ear; or how much monotone_eyes was tagged on eyes that had white sclera, black pupil, and some colored iris, made on the assumption that only counts the iris color (e.g. yellow_sclera red_eyes would also count as monotone_eyes by some); or how much monotone_breasts is tagged to the exclusion of the nipples/areola that are part of the breasts being a different color from the surrounding fur/scales/skin (none of which are how I'd interpret them, and ironically making the tags significantly less useful than they could have been; I'd have loved monotone_eyes to stay valid, but it was unusable). Then you get into issues of lighting and shading affecting the perceived color(s) of something. If a good number of people can't use the monotone_<body_part> tags to find what they'd consider to be a monotone body part, and the majority of results we do get from them are the most common way those parts are depicted, that doesn't make the tags very useful.
