Topic: Editing the Text of a Tag

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

Hi there!

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this. I noticed someone created a tag for my character Calico as "calico_(calico)" and applied it to some of my commissions. This also got added to art of a calico cat, because it's confusing as it is.

I generally go by "ManedCalico" online, so I was hoping to update the tag to "calico_(manedcalico) to make it more clear that it's not the breed. I know how to change a tag's category, but I don't seem to be able to edit the text of a tag itself. This doesn't seem like a case where an alias makes sense, it's more like fixing a typo.

Is there a process for requesting this change?

Thanks!

I'd probably say to just replace the tags manually. edit the posts with your character, change the existing calico_(calico) tag into calico_(manedcalico) and submit.

in cases where there are more instances of a tag there are other ways, but this case appears to just be two intentional uses and a mistag, so manual is easiest.

We could create an "alias" or "mass update" to fix it, but that would require waiting forever for the staff to eventually approve it (the backlog is massive). In this case, it's best to manually remove the old tag from the posts and add the new tag.

There were only three posts tagged with calico_(calico), so basically, you could have just manually removed calico_(calico) on all and replace with calico_(manedcalico) on the two cases where it's your character. I did it for you this time since I was already there, so you're good. You ought to doublecheck to make sure I got it right, though.

Ah cool! I wasn't sure if it was alright to leave a tag empty, so I was overthinking it. I'm finding other art of me here, so I'll start using the new tag. Thanks so much!
