Topic: Horror lovers

Anyone else who loves all sorts of horror media? I'm talking about things like movies, stories, sounds, (dreams?) etc.

I can't explain it but even though some of those things make me feel extremely uncomfortable, anxious or even pass out, I somewhat enjoy the feeling.

If you have recommendations of the worst things you know horror wise, please do recommend them here. I'll see during my spare time if I give them a chance :3

I love extreme horror novels. I've read Hogg by Samuel R. Delany (debatably horror but definitely extreme), In The Miso Soup by Ryu Murakami, Exquisite Corpse by Poppy Z. Brite and most recently (just before new years) Woom by Duncan Ralston.

Extreme horror got me back into reading books. I love the feeling of anticipation, waiting for it to get worse, the slack-jawed "holy fucking shit oh no" moments.

As far as non-novels go, I like listening to allegedly true creepy/scary/paranormal stories. As The Raven Dreams on YT is my favorite narrator, I love his "Glitch in the Matrix" series.

I don't really watch movies much anymore but back in the day I used to watch a lot of The Human Centipede (especially the second one), the Saw series and Final Destination.

As far as "the worst" stuff horror wise, I would say if you like very gory books then Exquisite Corpse is pretty good, the whole book is full of blood and gore. The actual worst book I've read is Hogg. I would never recommend it to anyone for any reason other than testing what you can handle in fiction... not in a horror way, in more like a "who wrote this?" kind of way.

Have you ever watched Orphan?

I have not but it does seem to be on netflix so maybe I'll give it a watch soon.

The way you feel is what I'd describe how I also feel regarding the matter. The anticipation and the actual oh shit moment are exhilarating feelings for me. I'll have to check the hogg and raven dreams both when I have time :p

Many of the movies do fall flat in the horror aspect. It's often just cheap jump scares so I can see why you wouldn't watch that many movies anymore. Last one that was intriguingly horrifying for me was the thing (1982 one). I went to watch it after a certain yt video.

dr bob does animations for the scp files, they're pretty good
https://www.youtube.com/@Dr_Bob/videos

personally I like The Conjuring Universe. you know, The Conjuring, Annabelle, and the Nun movies.

I also enjoyed the Insidious franchise.

oh, and I guess some of the worse, well, there was this one movie that was absolutely terrible despite its name, vampires vs zombies

oh geez and there was that movie Karen, which was just so stupid.

and let's not forget leprechaun, I don't know what they were thinking with that plotline.

I'll definitely look for the videos cause I actually like to listen about the scps as background videos. It's not this channel but i've watched https://www.youtube.com/@SCP 's videos a lot before.

I don't think I've seen insidious or the nun movies but I'm down to try if I'd like them.
Also conjuring was super interesting and I also liked it but for some reason I couldn't really like Annabelle. Maybe I remember it wrong but Annabelle felt like more jumpscare heavy while conjuring just had unsettling scenes which I like.

I think I saw some clips about the Karen movie and I agree that movie looked super dumb ;D
