Reason: Dunno if I can do a bur with only 2 implications, but I would rather not submit 2 separate implication requests and clutter the forum/queue! Let me know if this isn't the proper way to go about this :~)
Yes, you can do BURs with even 1 implication if you desire. Plus, you can edit BURs in case you screw up or something changes.
But this BUR isn't going to work the way you're intending it to. I take it you want toothy_grin to auto-tag grin and teeth, but you got the implications backwards. As it stands, with this BUR, any time a grin would be tagged, toothy or not, or any time teeth gets tagged, in a grin or any other expression, toothy_grin would also get auto-tagged, even though it wouldn't be appropriate for a picture.

no, closed smile implies the mouth is fully closed with the lips together. i'll group in more related implications later. is there a reason the previous BUR wasnt approved or denied?

Toothy grin is made while mouth is closed (teeth not parted), as separating them would make it a open smile. And a grin is a type of smile. So wouldn't it make it a closed_smile?

There are like only 2 or 3 admins who handle AIBURs (Alias, Implication and Bulk Update Request) and too many requests are created to check each and every one of them. So even the simple one like yours can stay for a while without getting approved or rejected.

I agree with @Weakling
mouth_closed only applies when lips are touching each other. In other words, it should imply open_smile instead.

It would be so when no teeth are visible. But if they are visible (which is a requirement for toothy grin to be tagged), at what point is mouth considered open? At lips or at teeth being parted?

I already answered that. At lips.
I may have confused you. In my previous post, I meant toothy_grin can imply open_smile if we want to imply either of open/closed_smile.
i feel as though normally a grin would imply the teeth are together or have very little space while an open smile would have teeth showing potential, but not together. The wiki is a bit vague on that..

open_smile toothy_grin returns 3 times as many results as closed_smile toothy_grin.
open_smile tooth grin -fangs -buckteeth/closed_smile tooth grin -fangs -buckteeth is also 5:1
We can rewrite the wiki to clarify that posts like these are not considered closed_smile

A better search would've been to include only solo posts, but the proportions wouldn't change much with it - still around 3:1 and 5:1. And yes, clarifying wiki would be good, though probably best to bring it up in a separate topic for others to chime in on the change

Nothing for now, I believe. Because without talking about where to draw the line between open/closed_smile, adding either of it to your BUR will make it unnecessarily complicated. And the discussion should be done outside of this thread.
