Reason: I think someone was trying to distinguish classical period spartan armor (490-323 BC) from halo (series) armor, by putting _(rome) at the end.
From what I've turned up, this is inaccurate. Rome had little to do with the area of Greece at the time, and even before Rome arrived the Spartans stopped their policy of minimal-armor foot-soldiers in exchange for being heavily-armored.
The classical period's "nude armor" is the one most often referred to by spartan_armor_(roman) and so it should become spartan_armor_(classical).
