He didn't say the skunk was dead. And skunks DO tend to shed a lot. Probably Nick just offered some grooming services for a quick buck, then made it into a rug for another quick buck.

Admitibly that kind of idea for more cash does sound down Nick's ally.
But I think he has MANY other opportunitys that involve ~not grooming~ a skunks rear end.
