It's such a dream-logic sort of setup, not even tram tracks in dense cities come up to the doorway, and she looks about to step on to one. And yet, I sort of want to live there.

Actually, houses like these are pretty common in Vietnam to the point of having "railway cafe" where tourists can drink coffee while trains are moving right next to them
Somehow, there have been relatively few incidents with these types of buildings

Oh, thank you for the correction! I duckbinged it and the Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City one looks amazing (and I wouldn't want to be a train driver, given how popular it got with Instagram era tourists). All fun things must end, though, and it seems the government is regulating it harder, or about to
