    My man, have you ever played Skyrim??? Go see Paarthurnax, he's covered in Battle Damage. It's not wear and tear from age, as the implication is that Dragons simply get Grey as they near Paarthurnax's age, so the damage is likely from Paarthurnax fighting Alduin when he emerged from the Time-wound.
