Kello lies to a cop.

Yes, this is Kello’s men’s swimsuit challenge art.

No, I’m not joking.

Kello says ACAB 🐷🚔

Alttext

A three panel comic. In the first, a transfem deer character, Kello, is standing on a beach surrounded by people, topless, and wearing a blue pair of men’s swim trunks. They look startled as a male police officer shouts from behind “HEY! This isn’t a nude beach lady! You got thirty seconds to put a shirt on or you’re leaving in cuffs.

The second panel shows Kello, poorly concealing contempt behind a fake smile, saying “look buddy, I’m sure you’re just doing your job” or whatever, but I’m a boy. The cop replies “having small tits doesn’t give you permission to break the law…”

The third panel shows Kello, embarrassed pulling their shorts down, revealing their dick. They say “no- like…” and trail off mid sentence. The cop looks on in stunned confusion, nose bleeding. People in the background laugh.

"Omg why is this cop harassing me!?"

Tbh I think it’s legally ambiguous at best whether or not nonbinary people on estrogen are allowed to go topless in public.

This is probably the least illegal public nudity-related stunt Kello’s ever pulled XD

Being on hormone therapy or being trans doesn't automatically turn breasts into non-breasts. The line is ambiguous, sure, but having a chest that is very clearly presented as 'female' breasts in a non-topless area is just asking for trouble.

Should the law change? Should we change? I think so. I would love it if American culture were more accepting of natural bodies, but this is unfortunately the state of reality.

Dawg you did not just "she was asking for it" Kello, like, c'mon now. :x

You know full well "asking for trouble" is a figure of speech, don't even start. Like interpret it how you want on your own time but don't twist my words.

I know you don't like the law the way it is and I'd love for it to change, for being topless to be not only legal but acceptable, but saying "I identify as a boy, therefore these don't count as breasts so I'm not breaking the law" is very flawed.

EDIT: I'm sorry if it seemed like I meant it as "she was asking for it." That's not how I meant it.

Not trying to be a dick about it but, my characters, my universe, my rules.

It’s legal for boys to be topless in the Kello universe, breasts or not, and this cop is harassing them.

By your logic, pre-op trans men shouldn’t be allowed to go topless in public either. This whole argument feels super problematic, and I’m not sure why you’re so being so insistent.

Also, like… from one American to another, you’re doing the thing where you’re implying America is the only country in the world. My comics don’t take place in America, or the real world at all. I’m not sure why you assumed they do.

    they're not saying "should".

the default assumption for all fiction is "like the reality i live in unless otherwise noted". you'll notice that MOST people tend to assume fiction they consume works like their own home country does unless it's obviously not the case.

in reality, a pre-mastectomy trans man WOULDN'T be allowed to go topless in public in any given area that a woman wasn't allowed to do so (though they might be able to get away with it if they were naturally flat).

it's like how e621 here has content tags and lore tags and a tag-what-you-see rule. obscenity laws IRL care about content tags way more than lore tags in every country that has them.

    that's all they were saying.

    goddamn, people.
