A shopping mall is a primarily North American term for a type of shopping center where retail businesses are grouped together in a complex connected by walkways. In North America, the term is generally used to refer to a large enclosed building surrounded by a parking lot with multiple shops inside, with the building "anchored" by large department store tenants.
