Gheists are individuals who have made significant efforts to overconstellate ouini (oo•ee•nee) beyond their original limits. This process results in the dissolution of ouini within the individual's heart and mind, leading to the corruption of their soul and mentality in pursuit of transformation. The "transformation" that gheists seek is, in fact, the distortion of their physical form into an unthinking being with a Jai Kan-like mentality, which serves to satisfy their insatiable craving for ouini.

The only cure is to sacrifice the thirst for power and purge oneself completely of any ouini. Many found success in pursuing faith as an alternative, putting their fears and desires in the belief of higher beings.

What is Ouini?
Ouini is a powerful substance that flows through every life form in Aretez. Known as ‘black fire’ or ‘black blood’ in some cultures, due to its erratic fluid black appearance in high concentrations, it is a substance that allows those who consume it to enhance their abilities beyond their limited potential. Ouini can enhance an individual's physicality, mentality, and spirit.

Why is it important?
While ouini allows for people to grow stronger artificially, it also attracts the predatory wildlife of Aretez, posing a hazard to those nearby. With higher concentrations being easier to sense, large predators, known as Jai Kan, pose a large threat to communities around Aretez.

Due to the danger posed by Jai Kan, many people believe that building a strong community is more beneficial than focusing on individual strength, and they have developed various strategies for dispersing ouini responsibly to prevent "constellating", which refers to the concentration of ouini in one location.
